Victoria-Saanich Vehicle Use Study

We would like to understand how many kilometers residents drive in a year. This will help us to understand vehicle usage and the extent to which residents' vehicles collectively contribute to greenhouse gas emissions and local air quality.

We would like to record the odometer reading for your vehicle.

How to record your odometer reading

1. Locate the odometer on your dash. It is usually located near the speedometer. In newer vehicles, the odometer will be digital. It might not be visible until you turn on your vehicle.

2. Make sure you are looking at the total mileage and not the trip recorder. The trip recorder, or trip odometer, will show a smaller number than the total mileage. Some cars have a button that switches between showing the total mileage and the trip recorder. You may need to press this button until you get to the total mileage, which is largest number.

3. Report only whole numbers. Do not include fractions or decimal points in your entry. For example, if your odometer shows fractions of a kilometer, report 12,008 km not 12,008.6 km.

4. Please report the full reading. For example, if the total number of kilometres on your odometer is 120, 280, record the entire number, not "120k" or "120".

If you are able to enter your odometer reading now, please select "Ready to enter odometer readings"
